The Structures of Cypress
The Shade of Cypress has a host of buildings. This guide will explain each of the different types of the main buildings, from an external perspective only. The interiors of common buildings will be explained, however, the interiors of private dwellings will vary depending on the people living within them.
Private Dwellings
The main private dwellings are built on stilts, on a quad based layout. Each condo has a corner, with staircases between each corner. The roofing of the condos is solar panelling that creates enough electricity for not only the quad, but for a communal battery to serve the medical cabin, the main hall, and the basic lighting for the forges. The walls are stucco with cork in between the stucco and drywall, to allow for virtual silence inside the condos. The windows are category 4 impact resistant glass, allowing for no need of shutters during storms. The 6 quads have variable bedrooms per unit, with 4 quads having 2 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bath; 1 quad with 3 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and single bathroom; and 1 quad having 3 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, living room, and 2 baths. These last are most highly sought out by those with children. Climate controls exist in these rooms.
Main Hall
The main hall is a 60 foot by 60 foot structure that sits on the ground level. The roof is solar panels and satellite dishes. The interior is a large meeting area with several couches, a steel-and-silver cage for prisoners, and a large freezer for storing large animals.
Medical Cabin
The medical cabin is a stucco building 45 foot by 45 foot that is at ground level. The roof contains solar panels and skylights allowing natural lighting to certain rooms within the cabin. Inside, the medical cabin is broken into 6 different rooms. One room is dedicated to the medical supplies, including a tightly locked and monitored drug locker containing Awakened medicines, painkillers, and tranquilizers. One room is an isolation room. One room is obviously a labor and delivery room, with miniature NICU. The remaining three rooms are general emergency rooms designed to handle patients of any breed.
Alpha Cabin
The Alpha’s cabin is situated apart from the other cabins, in easy view of the rest of camp. It is a solid wood structure. Details of the interior are not public knowledge.
Kitchen and General Storage
The kitchen and general storage area is a half-cabin, with dedicated water and refuse lines. The interior is equivalent to a commercial kitchen, with the addition of a large fireplace designed for spitted foods to be cooked outside of the weather. The freezers and cold storage are located here, holding at minimum 45 days worth of supplies for the sept.
The Apothecary
The apothecary consists of two rooms. A large great room dominates the structure with the workbench, herb-drying racks, fireplace and small kitchen. There is a sitting area for client consultation near the front of the great room near the distillery. The second room is a tiny bedroom with a spartan bath separated by an accordion divider. There is minimal electric with lighting provided by oil lamps. It hs stifling in the summer, but comfortable in the winter.
The Main Forge
The main forge is the primary weapons and armor forge, operated by Ariadne. It contains a 2 bedroom ensuite, and a small office.
The Second Forge
The second forge is often labelled off-limits to Garou, due to the silver particulate in the air. It contains an office, a much smaller furnace, and a single fold-down bed.
The Server Room
The Server room, the domain of Seth, has a single bedroom, bathing facilities, and contains the necessary equipment to regulate the power for the sept, along with the wireless signals.
The Armories
The Armories are stationed under each quad, accessible through a single door. Inside is a raised floor, and racks of weapons, varying in type and commonality. No personal weapons are to be left in the Armories.
The Woods
The woods surrounding the sept, but within the bawn and shroud. Cypress, oak, pine, citrus, and palm trees. Small rivulets.
The Springs
Freshwater springs in tiered pools. The uppermost contains a large pipe designed to feed the sept with water. The lower tiers are for bathing or relaxation as desired.
The Theurge Circle
This is a clearing in the woods adjoining the main campfire area. There is a circle outlined in a depression in the ground surrounded by standing stones that delineate the Lunar calendar. In the center of the circle is a stone altar that may be clear or may contain ritual items like herbs, stones, a brazier, or an athame variously according to the current work of the Theurges who use it. Michael’s Hermitage is located here. The interior of the small log cabin is not common knowledge.
The Caern Heart & Grotto
Near the Theurge Circle is a portion of the river that is quite wide. In the center is a small island where an enormous Cypress grows. Her knees form a treacherous passage to the island and her branches encompass the whole of the Sept within Her shade. Below the island, where it meets the river bed is a limestone grotto that reaches deep into the aquifer below. No one knows everything that is contained in the grotto. Some have seen Michael swimming down to it. It is rumored that there is a spirit there who creates breathable, fresh air where there should be only water.
